An electromagnetic field with a frequency of 50 Hz is presented in the space as an object. Two performers interact with it, experiencing it’s influence on their bodies, manifest characteristics of it’s invisible presence. The field sized 1.5 to 2.5 metres is generated by a coil connected to the power network. In the modern world, the man is constantly affected by industry-related magnetic fields without obvious experience of it’s influence. We are interested in constructing the possibility of evident experience of the field through the human senses. Interaction with the field is ensured through a permanent magnets and other metal objects and experienced audibly and kinesthetically.

The permanent magnet reacts to the field with vibration equal to its frequency (50Hz - 3000bpm). The performer manipulates with various resonators reacting to the magnet’s vibration. Acoustic and movement landscape becomes manifestation of interaction with the field. The coil and the resonators make up an electro acoustic noise music instrument. The project invites us to think through the relationship between the man and his environment which is getting ever more industrial. The coil is just a concentrated presence of the power network which has occupied every corner of the civilized ecumene. We imagine the power network as the blood circulatory system of the industrial civilization pulsing at 50 beats a second and want to hear this pulse.
